The New and Improved Sightmark Strikon VMP V2

The New and Improved Sightmark Strikon VMP V2

Strikon VMP V2 | Built From Shooter Feedback

Everybody remembers Google Glass.

It was ambitious, futuristic, and people talked about it everywhere. It also became a warning about what happens when a product misses what real people actually want from it. See, when users tell you something is not working, you can either defend the product as-is or you can listen and make the next version better.

For the Sightmark Strikon VMP, we chose the second option.

The new Sightmark Strikon VMP 1-4x22 SFP Fiber V2 Prismatic Riflescope exists because shooters spoke up. We heard the feedback, took it seriously, and used it to guide the updated design. The result is a compact variable magnification prismatic sight that keeps the original idea alive while refining the parts that needed improvement.

The Strikon VMP V2 gives shooters a rugged, compact optic with the speed of a close-range sight and the added control of 4x magnification. It is built for modern sporting rifles, defensive carbines, range use, competition setups and field rifles where shooters need speed up close without giving up the ability to identify and engage targets farther out.

Why Relaunch the Strikon VMP?

The first Strikon VMP introduced a useful concept: a compact 1-4x prismatic riflescope with an illuminated reticle, a wide field of view, and the familiar Aimpoint® Micro footprint. That gave shooters an optic that could run fast at 1x while offering extra magnification when a red dot alone was not enough.

The concept was good. The execution needed refinement.

We could have ignored the criticism, defended every design choice, and simply moved on. That would have been easier in the short term, but it would not have served the shooters who actually use our optics. Instead, we looked at what customers were telling us and used that input to shape the V2.

That matters because customer feedback only means something when it changes the product. The V2 is Sightmark’s answer to the people who told us what they wanted from the next Strikon VMP: better protection, better practical handling, and a setup that makes more sense on real rifles.

What Changed with the Strikon VMP V2?

The biggest visible exterior change was the move to protected capped turrets. The original VMP used low-profile exposed turrets, which made adjustments quick, but many shooters prefer a rifle optic that protects its zero once it is set. The V2 answers that concern with capped turrets that help prevent accidental windage or elevation movement during transport, training, competition, or field use.

That change alone makes the V2 a more practical optic for shooters who want to zero their rifle, cap the turrets, and trust the optic to stay put.

The V2 also keeps the Aimpoint® Micro footprint, which gives shooters broad mounting compatibility. That footprint was one of the stronger ideas behind the original optic, so it remains part of the new version. The updated package also supports multiple mounting heights, including 1.15", 1.54", 1.93", and 2.32" configurations, giving users more flexibility when setting up the optic for their rifle, cheek weld, backup sights, or preferred shooting position.

The included accessory package has also been built with real setup needs in mind. The Strikon VMP V2 includes three 0.39" risers, a honeycomb filter, a rubber lens cover, large and small throw lever attachments, a CR2032 battery, a T15 Torx key, a turret adjustment tool, multiple screw sets, and a lens cloth. Instead of forcing shooters to hunt down basic setup parts after opening the box, the V2 gives them more of what they need from the start.

Same Fast 1-4x Concept, Better Practical Execution

The Strikon VMP V2 stays true to the core purpose of the original optic. It is still a 1-4x variable magnification prismatic sight, which means it gives shooters a true close-range role at 1x while offering additional magnification for mid-range targets.

At 1x, the optic supports fast target acquisition and both-eyes-open shooting. At 4x, it gives shooters more detail when they need to identify a target, refine their hold or make a more precise shot. That makes the VMP V2 a useful option for shooters who want more capability than a basic red dot without moving to a longer, heavier LPVO setup.

The V2 uses a CRF-4 MIL SFP fiber-wire reticle with red illumination. The second focal plane reticle stays the same apparent size as magnification changes, while the MIL-based design gives shooters useful hold references. The optic includes 11 brightness settings, with 9 daylight settings and 2 night vision settings, so users can tune illumination for bright conditions, low light, or night vision use.

It also includes Shake Awake technology, which helps preserve battery life by shutting down after 10 minutes of inactivity and reactivating when movement is detected. Battery life ranges from approximately 6 hours on the highest setting to 180 hours on mid-level brightness and up to 1500 hours on the lowest setting.

Built for Real Rifle Use

The Strikon VMP V2 is built with a 6061 aluminum housing and a matte black finish. It is IP67 waterproof, nitrogen-filled, fog-proof, and shockproof, so it is ready for bad weather, rough handling, and hard range use. It is rated for calibers up to .308, giving shooters confidence across a wide range of common rifle platforms.

The optic features fully multi-coated lenses, 89.5% light transmission, a 22mm objective lens, and a wide field of view ranging from 133.0 ft. to 35.8 ft. at 100 yards across the magnification range. Eye relief runs from 3.94" to 3.54", which gives shooters practical room behind the optic, whether they are shooting from a bench, standing position, or supported field position.

At 5.83 inches long and 17.6 oz. With the 1.54" mount, the V2 remains compact enough for modern carbines while still offering the control and clarity shooters expect from a variable magnification optic.

The Point of the V2

The Strikon VMP V2 was not made because someone wanted a new box design, a new SKU, or a slightly different housing.

It was made because customers told us what needed to change.

That is the point of this relaunch. Shooters gave us direct feedback on the original VMP, and we used that feedback to build a better version. The V2 keeps the speed, compact size, and prismatic design that made the concept worthwhile, while adding updates that make the optic more practical for the way people actually run rifles.

Protected capped turrets. Flexible mounting height options. Useful accessories included. A proven 1-4x magnification range. A red illuminated CRF-4 MIL SFP reticle. Shake Awake. IP67 waterproof construction. Aimpoint® Micro footprint compatibility.

Those updates are the difference between defending the old version and doing the work to improve it.
